Storytelling Unit - Meeting development and final idea
Pitch
Development Day: Idea Facts
Student Name: Danny Hewitt
Genre: (highlighted)
Comedy
Thriller
Drama
Location: House
Characters:
1. Knuckles – violent criminal
2. Mike – personal trainer who is very innocent
Goal: Knuckles wants to escape from the
crime scene
Problem: Jumps into Mikes house
via the window just as Mike comes through the door
Change: Roles reverse as Mike doesn’t save
Knuckles from the barbell falling onto him, which eventually kills him. Therefore
Knuckles is now a victim and Mike isn’t the nice guy everyone thought he was
The Idea: Knuckles commits a crime
and runs away, meanwhile Mike is on his daily jog around the estate, helping
old people across the road. Knuckles then notices an open window and decides to
jump in. This happens to be Mikes house and he’s just returned home. He has a
protein shake and looks at himself in the mirror. Mike then realises a movement
behind him and turns round. After a cautious look round the corner, knuckles
comes out of his hiding place and threatens Mike with the knife he committed
the crime with. There is then a confrontation as well as little dialogue. In
the end, Knuckles tries out the bench press (with a heavy barbell) and it falls
onto him, strangling him in the process. Mike, who spots people for a living,
decides not to save Knuckles and eventually he dies.
Storytelling Unit - Pitch

Storytelling Unit - The Meeting planning
The Meeting
Characters:
Fitness Trainer – Mikes
Convict – Andrew aka Toes
Character description:
Mike is an under paid fitness obsessed personal trainer who’s very vain and arrogant
Toes is an escaped convict looking for a way out of his old life
Meeting:
Toes, a convict on death row, has just escaped and is on the run, dodging gun fire and police. He stumbles across a block of run down flats and hides. Meanwhile Mike the fitness trainer is on a run, wearing his tight running clothes, slick hair and a sly grin. As Toes reaches the flats he realises a window is open and climbs in. Mike opens the door and makes himself a protein shake in the kitchen with his headphones in. Toes runs to the door and opens it slightly, peeks out and realises the police are outside. Mike looks at his ‘guns’ in the mirror and pulls his phone out and takes a picture of himself posing. Toes pulls out his gun and opens the chamber and notices theres no bullets. Mike is about to upload his picture onto Facebook when he realises the convict is in the background of the image. He turns around, drops his phone and they glare into each others eyes. There’s a knock on the door and Toes forces Mike to answer and makes him lie to the police, saying he hasn’t seen anything.
Change:
Eventually Mike takes out Toes with a dumbbell, as Toes had his back turned, and he bleeds to death. The change is the role reversals with the characters. Mike now hates himself due to having a guilty conscience; whereas Toes went from escaping prison after killing someone, to then be killed himself.
