Digital News Unit: Phoning Agent

After researching videos on John, we decided that he would fit the role perfectly on our news channel. We  managed to get a contact number for his agent, so I rang him up and delivered the proposed project.

This went well as he seemed interested and gave me his personal email address so we can tell him more details

Fiction Adaptation Unit: Research

After researching the poet (Alice Meynnell) I have found out that she was an essayist and campaigner for women's suffrage. She converted to Catholic at an early age, which then went on to inspire her religious writings for the rest of her life.

The poem I am adapting was one of her most famous ones; one of which has many meanings. Its main focus is the change from summer to autumn, and the sudden war which affected everyone. However she sheds light on the deaths of the fallen soldiers as they receive the "kiss of Christ" as an image of salvation. They sacrificed themselves to save their friends and family

Fiction Adaptation Unit: Ideas

After reading "Summer in England" by Alice Meynnell, I thought of the idea of basing my film in an office. This is setting the scene in a completely different place to where the poem is originally set (war zone).

The plan is to adapt the war conventions into everyday life e.g. email instead of guns... This will modernise the poem, as well as adding comedy value. I haven't fully decided on the genre yet, but I want it to be either a comedy or thriller... I have ideas for either genre

The main part of my film will be comparing World War I to everyday life nowadays. I want to show that different jobs at different times share the same fear, stress and pressure.

One idea I can't decide on is whether or not to have my character as an ex-soldier or not.. I will be looking at the pros and cons of this feature; and decide soon

Digital News Unit: Research

After naming our channel Tekkers TV we thought it would be ideal to find a football freestyler who would live up to the name. We came across many videos, but one which stood out was John Farnworth.. who has not only featured on famous television programmes like Britains Got Talent; but also has broken many World Records with his talented feet and ball control.

The plan is to film him doing some tricks (tekkers) at a sporting event where he will try and secure another world record under his belt. I believe this is a long shot due to his "celebrity" status, however there is nothing wrong with trying as we believe he fits the role perfectly

Digital News Unit: Ideas

I was delighted to find out I was with my Documentary group again (Chris and Helen), and we got straight to work trying to think of a news channel which would appeal to us. Straight away we all agreed on doing a sports channel aimed at young people, as we all love sport therefore having a passion for it.

Helen came up with a great name for our channel: "Tekkers TV". This works in many ways as not only is "tekkers" a word used in sports, it also has a nice ring to it (alliteration). It means a lot to us too as our production name for the last project we worked on was called "Tekkers Productions", so we're carrying on the theme as well as making it relevant to the project.

I am very excited with this project, and the prospect with working with my team again
